Wedding in My Country

     Wedding custom is very importance in my country. it is considered as one of the most sacred day of everyone's life. Therefore, preparation takes a long time, sometime it could take up to several months. The preparation consists of picking out wedding dresses, creating wedding cards and choosing a restaurant. Vietnamese are very superstitious therefore wedding date and time are carefully chosen. The bride and grooms’ house decorated with beautiful ornaments. Bride and groom wear traditional long dresses on their wedding day. Grooms’ family responsible to bring five different fruit, food, wine, oriental robe, and jewelry trays to ask for the bride. These trays are being carry by five unmarried men. Wedding ceremony is taken place at the church or at home depending on their religion. At the brides’ place, five unmarried young women receive the trays from the young men. The groom family’s spokeperson introduces the groom family and ask to receive the bride. The bride family’s receive the gifts and introduce the bride family. Family members from both sides give bride and groom special gifts and wishes. Gifts are including money, jewelry and general stuffs. At this time, the bride and groom are pronounced husband and wife. Pictures will be taken at this time. The ceremony takes around one hour. Five aforementioned trays are being divided in two equal pieces and return one back to the groom. After that they proceed to the groom's house to pay respect to the his ancestors. Finnally, ceremonial party will be started at the restaurant at prearranged time. Groom will wear either white or black vest and bride will wear wedding gown. Friends and family members will be greeted at door of the restaurant. Every wedding attendees will take picture with the bride and groom. The party lasts about two hours and ended with dancing.
