The story is about a Greek woman name Toula Portokalos who lives in a big Greek family. Portokalos is a middle class Greek family living in Chicago. The family moved to United States from Greece in search for a husband for Toula. They own a small restaurant called Dancing Zorba's. Kids in the family are expected to married only to Greeks and Toula is no exception. Toula in her mid thirties and work in the restaurant as a waitress. Toula does not want to follow all the rules in the house and decided to attend school to improve her knowledge. Toula fell in love with a handsome young gentleman named Ian Miller. Miller seems like a perfect man; handsome, joyful and most importantly truly loves Toula dearly. However there are couple things about Ian that the family did not like; Ian is not Greek and also a vegetarian. Toula’s father did not approve her relationship with this Ian gentleman. In contrary her mother was on her side and tries her best to convince her father to accept Ian. After Ian agreed to be baptized in an Orthodox church, Toula’s father finally allows them to proceed with the wedding. The movie consists of many funny and comedic scenes. For example Toula’s brother and cousin would try to trick Ian in say inappropriate words in Greek to their relatives. Toula’s brother taught Ian to say thank you in Greek but instead translated to “nice boobs” and he ended up saying that to Toula’s mother. To summarize, My Big Fat Greek Wedding is very interesting and romantic.
