Halloween

This is my second Halloween in the United States. I like it very much with many funs in this day. So i will give some informaiton about the Halloween. It is an annual celebration in the United State, Canada, and United Kingdom… Halloween’s origins dated back to the ancient Celtic festival of Samhain. It came from Ireland. They believed that the ghosts of the dead returned to the earth. On the night of October 31, they celebrated Samhai to wish protecting them all through the long winter. After that custom of Halloween was brought to America in the 1840 by Irish immigrants. Turnip was part of the Halloween celebration in Ireland. However, they found that pumpkins were more plentiful than turnip in the America. Pumpkins became the symbol of Halloween in America. Halloween in America was popular between 1905 and 1915. Nowadays, it has become second popular holiday after the Charismas day. Preparation for this day can start weeks or even months earlier. Houses are decorated with ghostly items including cotton, skulls and mostly skeleton. Pumpkins are carved in many different shapes and placed in and outside of each house. People wear all sort of weird and strange outfits from angels to devil-liked costumes. At night time, kids on their Halloween costumes walk around their neighborhood and knock on the doors of their neighbors asking for “trick or treat”. Candies, crackers and fruity stuffs are given to the kids. Halloween has become one of the favorite holiday in the Americans’ lives.
